GT-R

MSRP $4,190 USD

DESCRIPTION

GT-R is a super high performance skydiving canopy designed around a highly aggressive Schuemann wing planform by applying advanced parachute design methodologies with in-house developed cutting edge computational fluid dynamic software tools.

The GT-R's true Schuemann planform has 7 ARC tri cells designed to ensure even upper surface span wise tension while carrying the loads through an internal membrane skeleton. Traditional cross bracing techniques achieve upper surface control by generating irregular span wise tension, but the side effects on aerodynamic surface deformation, variations on local angle of attack and uneven chord wise rib loading make them unfriendly to fly and introduce an inherently unpredictable deployment sequence that requires pilot input to correct.

ARC is designed around the concept of carrying the flight loads through an internal membrane acting as a skeleton and allowing the outer surfaces to be shaped specifically to fit their aerodynamic requirements and therefore be more lift/drag efficient.

The GTR incorporates parabolic reinforcement tapes. We have been the innovators of this technology in the sport parachuting market. This manufacturing technique produces a smoother top surface of our wings and thus more lift, less drag and higher relative performance.

Thanks to Synchronized Inflow Control System (SICS), we have been able to understand the phenomena controlling the deployment and inflation process of a canopy. SICS consistently ensures the initial pressurization of the center ARC tri cell producing a soft snivel phase resulting in the GT-R forward "on-heading" flight. The outward cells follow to pressurize the canopy into a fully rigid wing.

CELLS

The GT-R design has 7 tri-cells cross braced with ICARUS proprietary ARC bracing system. ARC is designed around the concept of carrying the flight loads through an internal membrane acting as an skeleton and allowing the outer surfaces to be shaped specifically to fit their aerodynamic requirements and therefore be more lift/drag efficient.

CHARACTERISTICS

Wingload range for all sizes is between 1.5 and 2.8 lb/sq ft

Compared to other cross brace systems in the market, we have incorporated an additional brace, so that all three sections of the tri-cell maintain their shape. This more rigid wing allows for enhanced lift, longer swoops and a more powerful flare.

Load carrying ribs are made of sailcloth fabric with ICARUS innovative parabolic reinforcement tapes to distribute the loads evenly without distortion to the upper surface.

FABRIC

GT-R is hybrid in construction with all upper and lower airfoil surfaces as well as the cross braces built with zero porosity fabric. The loading ribs are made out of sailcloth fabric

PILOT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

GT-R is a high performance canopy, a class above normal high performance cross brace canopies.

The minimum requirements to jump a GT-R are:

  1. 1500 jumps

  2. 500 jumps on a cross braced canopy at 2.0 wing loading or above

  3. 250 jumps minimum in the last 12 months

  4. Reference from a credentialed coach
